Vestax Stage Controller

www.vestax.com

hmmmmm....dunno exactly what to say....I like the idea but it does conjur up images of 80s bands strapping keyboards to their sides and playing Van Halens "Jump"....I think live this would have a great appeal due to the fact that....well DJs arent the most insp[iring peeps on stage are they... ???

Basically this is a player/mixer/scratcher thing as far as I can gather...only 20 will be made....so I guess I wont be seeing one... :o)

Rebound Boy

So maybe the first personal post on this blog....

I think i'm rebounding....what makes this worse is that im rebounding off a relationship I never had...so could it be a rebound or is it just common sense.... ???

I think these are the questions that plague my mind constantly whenever im confronted with a new relationship of any sorts....1st I question my motives...then I question her motives....then I have to make the decision of whether or not coming onto her is a good idea, considering that I have lost a few good female friends due to this....

Do I bring it on myself ??? do I confuse the issue ???...
Should I just be blatantly forward ???

hmmmmm.....I think for the next few months I should be....afterall, I have nothing to lose do I ;o)

Aphex Twin - Windowlicker (new version)

Aphex Twin - Window Licker

Ok so like most of Aphex Twins videos, this one is pretty disturbing...f*cking brilliant but very disturbing...I hope you errrr.....enjoy... :o)

Oscar Peterson on....Acid !!!

You see those little goodies on top of the keyboard....those are a TR606 and TB303 respectively...now although the TR606 is a pretty naff drum machine, the TB303 pretty much changed the face of dance music....the TB is acid, it was that definative squelchy sound that made nearly every techno band famous....the ironic thing is that it was originally made to accompany a drum machine, the TR-606 specifically, and provide bass-line accompaniment to guitarists, keyboard players, etc (very naff huh ???). It was not a succes until a couple years later when electronic musicians started fiddling and unleashing its potential...since then the TB-303 has become one of the most sought after vintage synths ever! and all from these humble beginnings...

Devil's Cartel - Everybody's gotta learn Sometimes

Hey peeps... :-)

As the name suggests this track is a cover of Beck's - Everybody's gotta learn sometimes, which was originally a cover of The Korgi's classic...this is a fairly dark electronic version and for those that dont know, Ponyworx and myself have teamed up to continue with Devils Cartel so expect some phat ass basslines :-P

On this track we had the lovely Christine doing our vocals ;-)

As always, crits and comments welcome... :-)

quietrevolution

quietrevolution is basically a vertical axis wind turbine....besides being quite attractive, what sets this apart from other turbines is that you can attach LEDs to the actual blades which when spinning, the blades paint a virtual screen in mid air....cool....besides looking very funky you could also use them for virtual advertisng etc etc...the visuals can be seen day and night...

The Quasicade...

Some serious amounts of woof here....if like me you were brought up on arcade games (rather than those nancy assed Playstations) this will get you going....there is just something about playing games standing up that changes the whole vibe and it seeming to become more and more popular with the advent of MAME which is basically just an emulator of the old games...yay !!! so you get bubble bubble, xain sleena, double dragon etc etc...

Anyways, The Quasicade is more of an arcade housing for whatever system you want to run...yep that means Playstation, Xbox or your emulators.........and you get a shelf to hold your discs...wicked !!!

The Wombles

Now who remembers the Wombles.... ??? :o)

Growing up they used to be one of my fav characters....I remember, and I think it was Tomsk, that would go out and collect stuff that people had thrown away and build these radical contraptions...for a boy this was heaven, especially for a boy that was absolutely addicted to LEGO....yup the Wombles rocked, its such a pity they dont make shows like this anymore but I guess the younger generation is way more intelligent than us at that age....

Ce la vie... :o)

Underground, overground Wombling free,
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we.
Making good use of the things that we find,
The things that the everyday folks leave behind.'

Smeagol

One of 3 of my cats...(hmmm that sentence doesnt sound right ???)....Smeagol is abnormally large, or maybe the rest are very small ??? anyways...the funniest thing is that he is terrified of nearly everything (other cats, loud noises, soft noises, TVs, radios, crickets, moths, you name it it he is scared of it) and spends most of his time sleeping in the 3rd shelf of my cubboard... :o)

Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton

Sorry for the poor picture quality but this is all I could find on the web...

OK...so next time you are going through Nelson Mandela Square (Sandton Square for those that havent kept up with all the name changing)...do yourself a favour and take a look at how odd old Nelson's head is on his statue.... ?! now im all for putting up the statue, im sure he is a great guy and he has done great things but at least get the equations right....... :o)

What stuns me is that this is a cast statue, surely it must've gone through check before it was cast in bronze ?! nope, instead the most famous person on the planet (which im sure he is) gets an enlarged head or is that too small ?! (ferk it just looks wrong to me).....sigh, im guessing its just another one of those things that slipped through the cracks...

Scarpa

The Scarpa....take a MotoX bike and cross it with a skate/snow/surf board and this is what you get get....a whole lot of woof, and a quicker way to killing yourself... :o) but we wont let small things like broken bones and lost skin deter us...nope...we just want one...

The manufacturers (Australian btw, like you had to ask) say that it should be ready in 2007 sometime....currently they are just providing the final touches, like making it unbreakable, sexy and fast all at a cost effective price...sounds a bit like a tawainese hooker if you ask me :o)hehehehe

Anyways heres the You Tube Link...ferkin crazy Australians....

Plans

Death cab for Cutie slowly whittled their way into my life last year after me being horribly obssesed with The Postal Servicethey share the same fantastic vocalist, Ben Gibbard, who has a certain haunting quality to his voice....once you're in there you are hooked...

Listen to the New album, Plans...its brilliant...also do yourself a favour and check out the SubPop Label....they feature a lot of artists of a similar feel, The Cary Brother, The postal Service etc

Death Cab for Cutie - Marching Bands Of Manhattan

If I Could Open My Arms
And Span The Length Of The Isle Of Manhattan
I'd Bring It To Where You Are
Making A Lake Of The East River And Hudson
If I Could Open My Mouth
Wide Enough For A Marching Band To March Out
They Would Make Your Name Sing
And Bend Through Alley's And Bounce Off all the Buildings

I Wish We Could Open Our Eyes
To See In All Directions At The Same Time
Oh, What A Beautiful View
If You Were Never Aware Of What Was Around You
And It Is True What You Said
That I Live Like A Hermit In My Own Head
When The Sun Shines Again
I'll Pull The Curtains And Blinds To Let The Light In

Sorrow Drips Into Your Heart|
Through A Pinhole|
Just Like A Faucet That Leaks |
And There Is Comfort In The Sound | X4
But While You Debate |
Half Empty Or Half Full |
It Slowly Rises Your Love Is Gonna Drown |

Your Love Is Gonna Drown (x4)
Your Love Is Gonna

The future of music....

monome.org

Probably one of the cooler musical interfaces ive seen....its totally modular and the user can customise it to be used in any which way he or she wants....im still trying to get my head around this concept but watch the video and you'll get a better idea of what im on about...

Interestingly they are only investing in 500 to start with and they are not taking any initial orders ??? ok then...I guess the few lucky ones will get to try them while us lessers mortals are stuck with Evolution and M-Audio... :o)

Birds

Probably one of the bestest, most fantastically stupendous music video's i've seen this year...evidently it was produced by a South African as well, not that, that wouldve changed my opinion....its just brilliant...the track also suits the theme...

Speaking to some of the video editors here, we decided it had to have been shot on high speed film...there's just something about the quality that wouldnt ring true if it was shot on HD....and those slo-mo's....almost makes you want to be a dog...... :oP

BTW the track is by a french group called Vitalic (how unsuprising)

The Aquapub..

Ok this is a great idea given...but...what happens if one of your mates just tends to be slightly heavier than most....a balancing act of note....makes for lots of fun tho...well thats if you have a pool...which I dont... :o)

it seems you can use it out side the pool as well...bonus...

The first...

The CLOD & the PEBBLE

"Love seeketh not Itself to please,
"Nor for itself hath any care,
"But for another gives its ease,
"And builds a Heaven in Hell's despair."

So sang little Clod of Clay
Trodden with the cattle's feet
But a Pebble of the brook
Warbled out these metres meet:

"Love seeketh only Self to please,
"To bind another to Its delight,
"Joys in another's loss of ease,
"And builds a Hell in Heaven's despite."

William Blake (1757-1827)
